Pantomime features an English hotel owner in Tobago who proposes that he and his Black handyman work up a satire on the Robinson Crusoe story with the hope of entertaining future guests. This fast-paced comedy delves into ideas of imperialism, prejudice and a master-and-servant relationship, where characters play parts that are not their own, causing hilarious mishaps and misunderstandings.



Denise Karczewski (Lighting Designer) is happy to be back at Pegasus with this production of Pantomime. Previous shows here include Still Life, Two Trains Running, The Upper Room, The Chicago Young Playwrights Festival, Broadway Bound, The One-Eyed Man is King and The Fantasticks. Other credits include A Chorus Line and Singin’ in the Rain for Theatre at the Center; Caught in the Net at Drury Lane Evergreen Park; and The Jackie Wilson Story for BET. Denise is currently the resident lighting designer for the Black Ensemble Theatre where she received a BTAA award for her design of Indigo Blues and an AAAA award for Ella: the First Lady of Song. She is the Assistant Technical Director at UIC Theatre.

Laura B. Kollar (Costume Designer) Laura moved from Atlanta six years ago and graduated from Loyola University Chicago. She has worked for many theaters in Chicagoland since her arrival. Recently she designed Still Life With Iris for the Vittum Theatre, assistant-designed Huddersfield with T.U.T.A. and constructed costumes for Chicago Shakespeare’s fall season. She previously collaborated with Jonathan on Member of the Wedding, and she is very very happy to be working with him again. Laura would like to thank Matt for being her favorite.

Timothy Mann (Scenic Designer) is pleased to return to Pegasus Players to work again with Jonathan Wilson, with whom he worked on last season’s production of Derek Wolcott’s PANTOMIME. Previous credits include Art Direction of THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN, several feature films and many productions at the Loyola University of Chicago where he is a professor of Scene Design.

Kipp Moorman (Harry Trewe) – “Pantomime” marks Kipp’s first appearance on the Pegasus stage. Kipp hopes that his joy and excitement about this will be self evident but would like to express it in print regardless, “I am very joyful and excited”. Kipp’s recent efforts have been directing the A.R. Gurnee one-act play “The Problem” for Rogue Theatre’s inaugural evening of one-acts to open their new space in Andersonville. His most recent turn on stage was also with Rogue Theatre in their production of “The Stoic”. Kipp is then set to appear in the spring in the Side Project’s production of “Thief River”. He also appears almost daily before the general public to give architectural tours on the Chicago River for Shoreline Sightseeing. Kipp moved to Chicago from Richmond, Virginia nearly nine years ago now and has just recently adjusted to the climate. After attending both Ohio University and Shenandoah University, Kipp finally became a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago theatre program. Finally Kipp wishes to extend deep thanks and warm regards to Jenny, his folks, Jonathan, Andre, Nan, the gang at Shoreline, the spirit in the sky, and you for showing up.

André Teamer (T. Darryl Heggans) “I’m back!” André had a wonderful time on the Island of Tobago portraying Jackson Phillip in this season’s inaugural show Pantomime and is pleased to once again collaborate with David Barr and Alex Levy in Black Caesar. Other Pegasus Players credits include; Wolf, everybody’s friendly numbers runner, in last season’s critically acclaimed, multi-nominated Two Trains Running, Jerome in Breath, Boom, and John Biggers in The Upper Room. He is an artistic associate with MPAACT (Ma’at Production Association of Afrikan Centered Theatre). His MPAACT credits include; Joe in Kiwi Black (North Park University), Ashen in Kosi-Dasa, Red in Fascia, Josiah in The Glow of Reflected Light, and Big Time in Relevant Hearsay… (Theater on the Lake). He has been blessed with the opportunity to work with other Chicago area theater companies such as Famous Door, Red Hen, ETA, Chicago Shakespeare, Black Ensemble, Steppenwolf, TimeLine, Bowen Park, Victory Gardens, Chicago Actors Ensemble, Chicago Children’s Theatre, Congo Square, The Hypocrites, Chocolate Chips, Apple Tree, Attic Playhouse, The Viaduct, Stage Left, Chicago Dramatists, and Urban Underground Media. “Many thanks to the Creator for all things. Jonathan Wilson (Director) is a Professor of Theatre and Drama in Loyola University Chicago’s Theatre Department. He has also been actively involved in the professional theatre in Chicago and around the country. In Chicago, his work has been seen at the Court, Goodman, Northlight, Organic, Pegasus, Steppenwolf, and Victory Gardens theatre companies. Outside Chicago, he has directed successful productions at the Circle-in-the-Square in New York, the Arena Stage in Washington D.C., the Hartford Stage in Connecticut, the Alley Theatre in Houston, the Seattle Repertory Theatre, and the Playhouse in the Park in Cincinnati. Nan Withers-Wilson (Voice & Dialect Coach) is a voice and dialect specialist whose credits include regional and Off-Broadway theatre, television, and film. Locally, her work has been heard in productions such as Ma Rainey’s Black BottomFraternity, and The Great White Hope for Pegasus Players Theatre; The Beard of Avon, House and Garden, A Christmas Carol, and Joe Turner’s Come and Gone at the Goodman Theatre; Playland at Steppenwolf Theatre; and From the Mississippi Delta, Driving Miss Daisy, Valley Song, and Smoke on the Mountain for Northlight Theatre. Dr. Withers-Wilson is a member of Loyola University Chicago’s Theatre Department faculty where she teaches courses in Dramatic Literature, Stage Voice & Diction, and Dialects for the Stage. She is the author of Vocal Direction for the Theatre, the first book to be written on how the theatre voice specialist functions as a collaborative artist within the production process. Nan holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a member of the Actors Equity Association.
