Pegasus Theatre Chicago is pleased to partner with our friends at Lifeline Theatre to co-produce From the Mississippi Delta by Dr. Endesha Ida Mae Holland. A compelling tale of tenacity and resilience, Holland’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated drama explores the incredible journey of a young woman from her hardscrabble Mississippi origins through the civil rights era and beyond.
Based on her memoir of the same title, Dr. Endesha Ida Mae Holland recounts her 20 year journey from humble beginnings in Greenwood, Mississippi to achieving her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota. Directed by ILesa Duncan (Shakin’ The Mess Outta Misery, The Green Book, and Eclipsed), experience a story of triumph in the face of extreme adversity — expertly weaved with humor and pathos — of Dr. Holland’s life relayed through three actors, all in tribute to one of America’s unsung “sheroes”.
